• Google Fiber is now offering 5 Gbps speeds in certain markets (via Engadget). Customers in Kansas City, West Des Moines, and the Salt Lake City metropolitan area will be the first to get the option for the speedier tier, which is rolling out now. • Tiktok will soon launch a new ‘Creator Fund 2.0’ program, which will provide more monetization opportunities for the app’s top stars, while it’s also developing a program that will enable creators to paywall longer videos in the app.

  TikTok’s new creator funding model will give creators higher payouts, in response to criticism of its first Creator Fund, which drove incremental revenue to creators. Read the full article here.

• According to CNBC, Google employees are calling the launch of the AI chatbot “rushed” and “botched” in posts across the company’s internal message boards, with many targeting CEO Sundar Pichai.

• Google announced Bard earlier this week in a bid to get ahead of Microsoft, which took the wraps off of its Chat GPT-powered Bing a day later. But when the company tweeted out a demo of Bard on Monday, several users pointed out that it contained a factual error. Click here to learn more.

• According to internal documents:

  “Around 180,000 people in the US were paying for subscriptions to Twitter, including Twitter Blue, as of mid-January, or less than 0.2% of monthly active users […] The U.S. number is about 62% of Twitter’s global subscriber total, the document says, which implies Twitter has 290,000 global subscribers.” Read the full article here.

• Big news from Google…they said yesterday  that its new conversational AI service, called Bard, would be opening up to trusted testers, and that it is readying the service for the public “in the coming weeks.” The technology aims to generate detailed answers when given simple prompts, such as what to make for lunch or how to plan a friend’s baby shower.

• Apparently Twitter  is  considering charging $1, 000 per month for brands to be granted a gold tick mark. The new package would also then let you effectively verify your own staff with Twitter’s official brand logo marker, but that will cost you an extra $50 per employee added. Click here to learn more.

• Also in Twitter news…they  have now expanded Twitter Blue access to Saudi Arabia, France, Germany, Italy, Portugal and Spain, which will let millions more Twitter users potentially sign-up for a verification tick. Click here to learn more.
