My  whole30+

I started the Whole 30 program in April of 2016. I had no intentions of going longer than that, but after my first 30 days, I found that I really enjoyed it. I felt better almost instantly after starting. One week into the program, I no longer needed to use my expensive rosacea ointment. I was sleeping better. I had more energy. I did start the program hoping to lose weight but  I actually only lost about 3 pounds after 30 days. (That's why they tell you to not look at the scale during your Whole 30.)

I decided to go another 30 days.

The weight started coming off on about day 45. I ended up losing 15 pounds and have kept it off. I don't even really need to think about weight loss anymore.

When people hear that I don't eat:

legumes

grains

dairy

soy

sugar/honey/molasses/stevia

msg/carageenen

alcohol

...they say, "wow. That must be really hard. You must have amazing willpower".

Ha ha ha! No. I most certainly do not have amazing willpower. As odd as this may sound, Whole30 is very liberating. It feels the opposite of restrictive. I eat whole foods, healthy fats, and lean protein. That actually gives me a lot of options. I eat really delicious food. I don't have to count calories, points...nada.

I had given up alcohol about a month prior to Whole 30 after I read This Naked Mind. I think if I hadn't read this book prior to starting Whole30, I probably wouldn't have stayed with it this long.

Kimchee I add kimchee to almost every meal. Not only is this probiotic great for your gut health, it is so tasty. I love foods with lots of flavor. This is my favorite brand. I get it at WholeFoods. Be careful and check kimchee labels. Some brands add sugar.

Instant Pot I'm not sure where to begin. This machine has literally changed my life. Get this book, too, while you're at it. And look at Michelle Tam's Instant Pot recipes on her blog.

Everything Bagel Seasoning This stuff is like crack. You will put it on everything.

Safe Catch Tuna

GTs Kambucha (check the sugar! Some of them have added sugar)

Nutpods: You won't miss the cream in your coffee after try this stuff. In fact, before I started Whole30 I always drank my coffee black. Then I tried this creamy delicious stuff and decided to start adding it to my coffee.

Vital Proteins Collagen Peptides: has no taste. I add it to my coffee every morning.

Cauliflower Rice This is the frozen riced cauliflower at Trader Joes. It is better than homemade. Even my kids love it. I eat at least a bag a day.
